The Alice Springs Steiner School is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and committed Class 1 Teacher to join our vibrant school community in 2026. Located on beautiful Arrernte Country, just 10 minutes from the township of Mparntwe/Alice Springs, our school offers a unique opportunity to live and teach in the heart of Central Australia, surrounded by extraordinary landscapes and a rich cultural heritage.
We are looking for a teacher who is passionate about nurturing the unfolding capacities of each child and dedicated to the ideals of Steiner education. The successful candidate will take on both the academic and pastoral care of a Class 1 cohort, guiding them with warmth and consistency. The school asks for a three-year commitment, with the intention of continuing with the class through to Class 7 (or part thereof, by negotiation).
You will be supported by an experienced assistant, specialist teachers, and a Learning Support Coordinator, and will work within a collegial faculty motivated by deep respect and care for our students. The Role Includes:

Developing and delivering teaching programs aligned with the Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework (ASCF)

Carrying daily, weekly, and seasonal rhythms and preparing for Festivals

Taking primary responsibility for both the academic and social development of students

Collaborating with specialist teachers, parents, and colleagues to support student learning and wellbeing

Engaging in professional appraisal, mentoring, and self-reflection as part of a supportive teaching culture
