The Alice Springs Steiner School is seeking an experienced, professional and community-minded Business Manager to join our vibrant Steiner Early Childhood, Primary and Middle school in the heart of Australia.
Located on beautiful Arrernte Country, just 10 minutes from the township of Mparntwe / Alice Springs, our school has been providing holistic, place-based Steiner education for over 27 years. We are a growing and innovative school community committed to nurturing the academic, social and emotional development of every child.
About the Role
The Business Manager plays a key leadership role within the school and is responsible for overseeing the effective management of the school’s business administration, financial operations, compliance, property management and administration teams.
Working closely with the Principal, Leadership Team and School Board, the Business Manager supports the strategic and operational direction of the school while ensuring strong financial stewardship and efficient day-to-day operations.
This is a dynamic and varied role requiring excellent organisational, interpersonal and leadership skills, alongside a collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
The role includes responsibility for:
- Financial management, budgeting and reporting
- Payroll, debtors, creditors and compliance oversight
- Risk management and policy administration
- HR administration and staff support
- Property and facilities management
- Coordination of maintenance and capital works projects
- ICT and operational systems oversight
- Leadership of administration and ancillary staff
- Supporting positive relationships within the school community
About You
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- Strong financial and administrative management experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High levels of professionalism and confidentiality
- Experience leading teams and managing operations
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work collaboratively within a community environment
- An understanding of, or willingness to support, Steiner education philosophy
- Experience in education, not-for-profit or community-based organisations will be highly regarded.
